To all
trustees: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be sure that your
members who participate in WSWPLA tournaments know that
it is THEIR responsibility to know when their tee time
is and that they should be checked in at least 15
minutes prior to that!!!! The breach of USGA rule #6 is
disqualification. Yes, there is the option of granting
leniency by the "committee" and assessing a 2 stroke
penalty to the first hole, if one starts within 5
minutes of the stated tee time, and I did generously opt
for this due to unusual circumstances at Canyon Lakes.
The starter delayed the start so that the involved
persons could be taken to their tees. In doing so, some
players started before the horn blew, thinking that they
didn't hear it. If you read the decision below, not
knowing the time is NOT a reasonable excuse. The start
times are posted on the signup sheets and on the
website, and I see no excuse for not knowing! It also
holds up the Tournament Director and her assistant from
getting to their tee boxes on time. Truly, you should
be at the course an hour before the start of play so
that you have time to check in, get your equipment ready
and warm up. Thanks for your help. Please remember that
we do play according to the USGA Rules of Golf! |
