Dawn from Wayne has promised to write a a short common sense guide to driving carts. For those of you that may or may not have heard we had another cart accident at Shuksan.  Darlene Aanderud and Pat Johnson's cart tipped over on one of the steep hills. Darlene went to the hospital to be checked out. Pat talked to Darlene and said that she is bruised up but going to be ok. Pat was able to continue playing even though she was sore. From your webmaster: I located one fairly good link for golf cart safety (i.e., 15 mph; keep limbs inside the cart, etc.) but I didn't find anything at all about how best to navigate these fairway inclines.  Golf Cart Safety Link,

Invitational, Days of Whine & Roses Sept 20, 21

Dear Trustees:   Our President, Mary Owen, recently received notification of two awards that the USGA gives each year and wants all of you to be aware of them and see if any of your members might qualify.  The first award is the 2011 Bob Jones Award.  It is an award for sportsmanship - it is not a reward for distinguished service.  The "qualifications include a respect for the game and its rules, a generosity of spirit, a sense of fair play, self-control and perhaps even self-sacrifice."  The second award is the 2011 Joe Dey Award.  It is an award which seeks to honor meritorious service to golf by a volunteer.  To get more information about these awards, please go to:  www.usga.org.  It will have the specific details.
